Remembering Jer-Bear

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

The day has come to say farewell to a Great Friend of ours. It was a long courageous fight and you showed overwhelming strength, to each and every one of us, as he battled cancer for many years. The ups and downs were unbelievable but he never once gave up. We will miss you and totally realize how lucky we were to have you in our world.

The Yellow Rose

her favorite flower

Long time resident from Toledo passed away a couple of weeks ago. Rosie was a very special person to everyone whose life she touched. Her family called and asked if I would do the casket piece for her, they mentioned that her favorite flower was the “Yellow rose.” This is the first time that I have been able to get a picture of my work completed and in place. It was very overwhelming to say the least.

When I was designing the piece I found myself smiling as I remembered all the great visits I had had with her. She gave me a recipe many years ago that I use to this day on my venison for jerky but also use on my smoked halibut and salmon.
ROSIE you will be missed.

A Special Heart Shaped Memorial Wreath

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Funerals are a part of life and when creating a piece for someone special – the unique designs and extras added to make that special statement is very deep and meaningful for me. Being in this business I find that alot of the work I do is for people I know so therefore I am able to add that special touch to show the qualities of what that person stood for and was like.

Beach themed stand up memorial wreath

This piece was done for a friend of mine who I went to school with. It was for her brother and he was my brother’s best friend and my friend too. To loose someone is not easy but to create something that is about that person..is very special in so many ways. The funeral was at the beach where he lived for many many years. He was loved the water and fishing. It was his life…. He will be missed.

Beautiful Hawaiian wedding flowers

hawaiian-sample

I am going to do a wedding this October and the young gal wants to have it in a Hawaiian theme. So I made contact with a Hawaiian entertainer/dancer that is famous on the islands not only for her dancing but for the beautiful hair pieces she wears. She uses foam pulmeria and hibiscus. They are totally awesome looking. Pretty real looking if I do say so… So I order some to try to put a few things together just to see..

hawaiian-sample2

The one is a bunch made up to look like a single stem flower but she has chosen to do the round design bouquet. Now keep in mind this is a sample not what it is going to look like as there is so much more to put in with it.. but the shape is what she was concentrating on..

This is the kind of stuff I love to do

Hello Everyone,

Well the month of May has come and gone and June is not too far behind, before we know it July will be here and gone too.. WOW.. It has been fairly busy here in the new shop. Balloons are selling off the wall and flowers are picking up some what. Still a ways to go but looking good so far for this time of the year.

a little bit country

I got an order for an anniversary arrangement for one of my favorite customers. She loves different things so that is always totally awesome as it allows me to do what ever I want. She likes country and wild.. so I did something a little off the norm.. you can see that in the picture.

fully customized arrangement

The roses are together as a topiary and then multi color flowers below with bear grass heart.

modified version of an arrangement

This arrangement is a revise of an arrangement that my customer’s daughter sent to her. Probably a touch different in design but very close in what she wanted flowers wise and such. This customer was referred to the shop by Forever Greens in Chehalis as the delivery was down here in my area. We work well together when it comes to that, as that is how it should be.

a bouquet crafted to the bride's specifications

This is the hand bouquet for The Cates wedding that was taking place at the Bethel Church in Napavine/Chehalis. This was alot of fun doing as I combined wild spray roses, garden roses and peonies together with tree fern and pink limonium giving that wild flower look that the bride requested. Speaking of which, I have noticed that the trends in wedding flowers have switched a lot.. they’re more simple but elegant.. yet with a taste of unique-ness. (If that makes any sense.)

July 4th I have another wedding I am doing that is for a long time friend of the family. Her choice of flowers are silks-soft and pure looking. I will hopefully get some pictures of the wedding and bouquet for you to see. Then it will probably mellow out somewhat until August 1, when I do another wedding. So until next time.. Enjoy

The gift of Flowers brings a smile to your face…
