Busier at the new digs

May 28th, 2009

I am not posting any pictures as I have slacked on that this time around. But wanted to let you know that so far the shop is busier than it was over at the other place. This summer will be the testing point.

Right now I am getting ready for “Graduations” in the area and a couple of up coming weddings one in June and one in July. Memorial weekend proved to be not a huge flower event this year again probably because people can pick flowers from their yard and keep the expense down. So I took the weekend off and worked around the home front.

TwistedVine is planning on having it’s two year anniversary and grand opening of its new location this Funtime Festival in Napavine. So we will be sure to post the events from that special day.. Until then …

Enjoy the Sunshine! Sharon

The Big Move… (across the street)

May 12th, 2009

The new location

Hi Everyone.. I know it has been a while since my last entry but wanted to get pictures taken from start to finish… Hope you enjoy..

The weekend we moved to our new location I was busy with two weddings and the prom in Napavine and Centralia. As soon as I closed my doors on Saturday the 25th I started moving belongings over to the shop.. Thank goodness for Shannon and Louis and some of our friends (Dennis, George, and DJ) they all helped make the move a smooth one.

Shannon was busy getting the inside all set up and displays done up nice…

Plumbing and door being taken out…

Louis bravely scaling the roof to let the world know of TV's new location
Louis was the brave one as much as he does not like height he was up on the roof getting the sign all bolted down.. Can’t thank them all enough.

Well it has been a week 2 weeks almost that I have been in the new shop and I am loving it. It has lots of room…and the work area is totally awesome.

Shannon has been down at the shop helping me with last minute things. She got her Scentsy wickless candle display sort of up and going.. I am going to let her show case it here in the shop.

The business has been super.. It is amazing how just moving to a new location in the same town makes a huge difference. I am hoping that this is going to be a long time venture..

can you see me

Until next time.. Thank you for being patient with me on my blog entries and have a TwistedVine Kinda Day!

Happy Mom’s Day to all..

New Items In and On the Way

Special gift candles

Well, how’s it going? The business is a little slow at this time of the year so it has allowed me to start looking and bringing in new things. I have come across some pretty neat thing which will be arriving soon.

Rustic homey americana vintage sign

Also in the shop I have already brought in some meaningful word signs with a little different look, Candles that show the primitive side of the shop that are totally awesome. And I am hoping to bring more into the shop in regards to a Baby items section and gourmet food section. Not huge but something!

Bright holiday plant

So keep checking the “Blog”, as you never know, what you might read, that TwistedVine is doing to make this small local business a fun place to shop at.

Enjoy the day!

vase with arrangement

Hi there everyone we finally got through Valentine’s Day.. I will have to admit it wasn’t as busy this year as it was last year but I did sell all of my flower stock so that is a good thing, as some of my friends that have flowershops sat on hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of flowers. It just really is sad. The economy is slow all the way around and we can only hope that it starts to pick up soon. Like I have always said…Things happen for a reason and what ever the shop is in store for will work out one way or another..

one of a kind glassware

My husband’s cousin does unique artistic designs with old vases and glassware. I brought some into the shop this Valentine’s to see if they would sell.. People absolutely love them. They are an item one can use for flowers or candles or candy dishes but what ever the use is let me tell you: not too many people will be able to find them except for here at TwistedVine..

a lovely memorial arrangement

The other huge arrangement was done for a customer of mine in memory of her mother as she wanted to have flowers in the church. It was a very emotional story to be told and the thoughts behind make me realize even more so why I love to design and work with flowers

Have a great Day and keep checking the blog. My entries may be slow but don’t give up on me…and my shop… :) smile

Enjoy

Our Great Friend

January 25th, 2009

Last weekend we lost a very important person in our lives and the community’s life.

ROY FILLA.

work gloves at the end of the line

Now some of you may know him if you live around the area and some may not personally know him, but have heard about him. Roy was awesome.. He meant the world to our family for many reasons. He was not only Our Great Friend but he was also Gary’s employer for many years while Roy was in the logging business, as Gary drove log truck for him.

Roy and his wife Rosemary left a Legacy behind as he was a very giving person. He employed alot of people- providing them with a job, food on their table and even medical insurance. He cared about his workers and let them know it in his own special way. He gave lots to the community and his family was down to earth people. They knew how much it meant to be hard working and dependable for not only them self but every around them.. Their son Rich and I was best friends and came to Toledo the same year. Rich was from Toutle and me from Kelso.

Roy began in logging using horses – moved on with machine logging and employed somewhere up to 250 people and had over 14 sides. He retired and sold his business giving one side to his son Rich as he was the one who fell in his dad’s foot steps. Once Roy was finally retired he took up is old hobby and went back to raising Belgian horses and farming and did so up to the day of passing. Roy was very active at 90 years old.. Loading hay, feeding his animals and when he had a chance visiting with all that came around or across his path along the way.

He will greatly be missed. So with saying that I had the privilege to do a couple pieces for his memorial service..

Until we meet again.. God bless and enjoy life to the fullest.

Bizzare weather in rural Washington

January 8th, 2009

The month of Dec and so far January has been totally bizzare. We averaged about 22″ out at our home which is the most snow I have seen here in WASHINGTON through out my adult life. Then low n behold if the rain didn’t start, it is terrible.

I woke up this morning and looked outside and thought wow.. we are starting to flood and we live on a hill top. When I got to the shop I thought now this is good.. There isn’t water all around the building but I am sure if it continues it will be soon. I turned on the sign and got busy bringing out my little bit of Valentine’s stuff..ordered my candy for the shop and did a couple of arrangements. Now it is time to start in on all the year ending books.. So hope you all have a great day..Until next time.. Sharon
