Beautiful Hawaiian wedding flowers

July 21st, 2009

hawaiian-sample

I am going to do a wedding this October and the young gal wants to have it in a Hawaiian theme. So I made contact with a Hawaiian entertainer/dancer that is famous on the islands not only for her dancing but for the beautiful hair pieces she wears. She uses foam pulmeria and hibiscus. They are totally awesome looking. Pretty real looking if I do say so… So I order some to try to put a few things together just to see..

hawaiian-sample2

The one is a bunch made up to look like a single stem flower but she has chosen to do the round design bouquet. Now keep in mind this is a sample not what it is going to look like as there is so much more to put in with it.. but the shape is what she was concentrating on..

Funtime in Napvine

Funtime-2-184

Hello to All.

It was a busy weekend with trying to get ready for Napavine FunTime Festival. I worked on designing a wagon to look like a big huge flower basket arrangement for out side..

What happens in Napavine stays in Napavine

Shannon, Cheyanne and Morgan Logan was in the parade pulling the wagon and throwing candy and handing out single carnations to people thanking them for their support to the business.. Over all it turned out great.. Shannon and Cheyanne got their exercise.. :)

Funtime-2-206

The shop took Second Place this year, coming behind Hampton Trucking in the category of business.. How funny huh… The trophy was nice but just letting the community know that we are here for them and appreciate their support is what means the most to us.. So until next year.. It was lot of Fun..

An emotional week

July 14th, 2009

tasteful memorial arrangement

This week was a very emotional week. Our friend’s mom passed away and even though she was in her late senior years…she was as spry as anyone. While I was doing funeral work for them I was informed that one of my close friends that I went to school with and hung around alot had lost his wife. She was only 53 years old.

When some one so young passes away you can’t but help to find yourself asking why so young.. But we know that before we were brought on this earth that our life had been mapped out already.

I couldn’t attend the service so we sent a begonia plant in honor of her. Then later that night we went out to Dave’s place and took a weeping cherry tree to him from his Aunts and Uncle on the Jones side.

Mary…your memories will live on in the hearts of those lives you touch.

CHEESE DAY 2009

July 13th, 2009

Hot Roddin' the streets of Toledo

What a great day it was! We took off at 7:00 to head to Toledo as it was going to be a busy day for us. First we had breakfast, then I picked up flowers for the coronation for Cheese Day Queen and then we went to where the Car Show was going to be and proceeded walking up and down all the cars looking for just the right car that would be represented and receive the sponsorship sticker from the shop…

TwistedVine Floral and Gifts’ Choice car is:

classic car sponsorship
This car is owned by Dennis Rogalinski from Mineral/Packwood area. The chosen car is a: 1931 Ford Model A (Prostreet 383 480hp). First glance of this car caught my eye because of the color.. as being a floral designer color is very important. The awesome teal green color body and lime green motor / purple hoses, not to forget mentioning the class and style, made this sweet looking car a perfect pick for TwistedVine Floral & Gift Sponsorship Award winning car.. Congratulations Dennis.

See you at Napavine Funtime Festival and for you that are attending N.F.F. go over and check out our pick and say hello to Dennis.

Once the judging was over I went down and helped decorate the Class of 59 Float which was designed like the old Shake Shop an place that was the hang out not for only that era but also for many years more..even in my class time in 71. Over all it was a totally awesome day.. Lots of fun and laughter and two tired people at the end of the day!

Hope you enjoy the pictures and look for more to come as Napavine Funtime is the weekend of July 17,18,19

Enjoy,
Sharon

Flowers and vows for a friend’s wedding

July 10th, 2009

Our friend Stacey getting married

Hello everyone.. I thought I should touch bases with you all.. It has been a very busy 2 weeks and the next few months will even be busier.

There is no greater honor than to be asked to do flowers for a special family that has been a part of our life for a long time.

bridesmaid

On July 4th, Stacey’s wedding day arrived and what an awesome day it was. The sun was out and everything fell into place as we hoped. The ceremony was totally awesome. In fact at one time, it brought tears to my eyes. (okay I have a soft heart!) The bride was beautiful the flowers accented all their dresses perfectly. Now again I see why I do what I do when it comes to flowers as it is always so rewarding…for me. Have a great Weekend..

This is the kind of stuff I love to do

June 25th, 2009

Hello Everyone,

Well the month of May has come and gone and June is not too far behind, before we know it July will be here and gone too.. WOW.. It has been fairly busy here in the new shop. Balloons are selling off the wall and flowers are picking up some what. Still a ways to go but looking good so far for this time of the year.

a little bit country

I got an order for an anniversary arrangement for one of my favorite customers. She loves different things so that is always totally awesome as it allows me to do what ever I want. She likes country and wild.. so I did something a little off the norm.. you can see that in the picture.

fully customized arrangement

The roses are together as a topiary and then multi color flowers below with bear grass heart.

modified version of an arrangement

This arrangement is a revise of an arrangement that my customer’s daughter sent to her. Probably a touch different in design but very close in what she wanted flowers wise and such. This customer was referred to the shop by Forever Greens in Chehalis as the delivery was down here in my area. We work well together when it comes to that, as that is how it should be.

a bouquet crafted to the bride's specifications

This is the hand bouquet for The Cates wedding that was taking place at the Bethel Church in Napavine/Chehalis. This was alot of fun doing as I combined wild spray roses, garden roses and peonies together with tree fern and pink limonium giving that wild flower look that the bride requested. Speaking of which, I have noticed that the trends in wedding flowers have switched a lot.. they’re more simple but elegant.. yet with a taste of unique-ness. (If that makes any sense.)

July 4th I have another wedding I am doing that is for a long time friend of the family. Her choice of flowers are silks-soft and pure looking. I will hopefully get some pictures of the wedding and bouquet for you to see. Then it will probably mellow out somewhat until August 1, when I do another wedding. So until next time.. Enjoy

The gift of Flowers brings a smile to your face…

Dad’s day out at the Mariner game

June 24th, 2009

The man and the legend

Well it is Dad’s Day.. Not a huge day for flowers so …sometimes one has to step away from the hectic work force and just enjoy themself for a day. That is exactly what I did, along with my husband Gary our daughter Shannon and our extended kid Cheri …we took in the Seattle Mariners Dad’s Day at Safeco Field and what a hoot it was..

big glove outside Safeco field

Of course as you can see, I found the big glove out front of the stadium, so Shannon and I had to have our picture next to it.. then we waited for Cheri to come down from Shoreline to meet up with us. After we all got settled in at the Hit Here Cafe’ … We enjoyed a super day at the game.. Gary seemed to have a super time and that is what really mattered.

Shannon

Cheri

He had his most favorite girls with him and enjoyed his “Mariner Hot Dog”, along with watching his favorite team play ball and yes! they won… YAHOO.. Keep looking as I will be updating you soon with what has been going on with TwistedVine in the flower business.. Later Enjoy! Sharon.

A summer flower update

June 9th, 2009

Well, Graduation has come and gone..It wasn’t a big flower week but boy was there lots of balloons purchased. Unbelievable! Prior to that I did a piece for my son -n -law’s grand-dads service and they stopped by and picked it up to take with them as it was up around Monroe, WA.

Cross shaped standing spray

Things will slow down a bit as it usually does around summer time.. I have a couple of Weddings to do but other than that not much else. Just the occasional flower arrangement now and then. But do know if anything exciting happens you will be the first to know.. Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine while it last

Smiles to you,
Sharon
